Panaji: Goa Legislative Assembly’s ongoing session witnessed ruckus when opposition MLAs rushed to the Well of the House on Friday objecting to the government’s request to postpone the question on Coal Block allocation.
State Industries Minister Vishwajit Rane sought to postpone the question on the present status of the Coal Block allotted by centre to Goa, which was tabled by MLAs Rohan Khaunte, Vijai Sardesai, Jayesh Salgaonkar and Vinod Palyekar.
The opposition Benches strongly objected to the postponement of the Question claiming that the same one was earlier postponed by the government, after which, it was slotted for the answer today.
Rane told the House that the Question was sought to be postponed under Rule 49 (2) of the Assembly.
Sardesai said that the Question on Status of Coal Block allocation could not be postponed under the rule. He alleged that the government was shying away from answering the question.
He also threatened to move Breach of Privilege over the matter and also move to the Court against the action of the government (of postponing the question).
Khaunte said that the state government was trying to save its face from Rs 1,000 crore scam involved in allocation of the coal block. He alleged that the consultant appointed for exploiting the coal block has already been blacklisted after inquiry against him by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
