Panaji: Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah launched the AI-Based Voice Assistant for the 1930 Cybercrime Helpline today during the President’s Colour Parade at Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium, Panaji, marking another significant milestone in Goa Police’s journey towards technology-enabled, proactive, and citizen-centric policing.
In October 2025, the cloud telephony-based 1930 Cyber Helpline was launched in Goa by the Union Home Minister. Since its inception, the initiative has significantly strengthened Goa’s response to cyber financial frauds and ensured that not a single cyber fraud call received through the helpline goes unanswered.
The impact of this technology-driven intervention is reflected in the state’s cyber fraud figures. As the response mechanism has become faster, the amount lost to cyber fraud during the January–August period has declined substantially by 30%, demonstrating the effectiveness of timely reporting, rapid intervention, and coordinated response.
Building further on this technology-led ecosystem, the AI-ML Lab of Goa Police has developed this new AI-Based Voice Assistant for the 1930 Cyber Helpline. The system is designed to interact directly with complainants, communicate in 12 languages, including English, Hindi, Marathi, Konkani, Odia, and Gujarati, gather essential details of incidents, and record complaints, thereby making the reporting process faster, more accessible, and citizen-friendly.
This pioneering initiative is aimed at overcoming language barriers in the tourist state of Goa, reducing response time, and enabling seamless registration of cyber fraud complaints, particularly during periods of high call volumes.
