Panaji: Goa Cabinet on Wednesday passed the scheme providing one time financial assistance to the marginalised and unorganised sector, who have lost their livelihood to COVID-19 pandemic.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant told reporters that the scheme will cover around 25,000-30,000 people, whose livelihood has been affected due to the COVID-19.
“This is a new scheme which will provide relief to the marganalised and unorganised sector, who have lost their livelihood to the pandemic,” he said.
The scheme will cover Rickshaw drivers, Motorcycle Pilots, Taxi operators, Non Muster Roll (NMR) workers registered with various panchayats and those who are listed in the data of Traditional Occupations of the State Social Welfare Department, he said.
Sawant said that one time financial benefit of Rs 5,000 would be paid to them after they fill a “simple form.”
He said that the state government will also ask for the list of such beneficiaries from various Associations covering unorganised and marginalised people.
