Panaji: Women across Goa have participated in Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) AAP Ki Chai meetings, where party leaders said they received support for AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal’s guarantee of ₹3,000 per month for every woman, without terms and conditions.
The meetings, held across constituencies from Pernem to Canacona, focused on the rising cost of living, household expenses and concerns over access to existing welfare schemes. According to AAP leaders, women attending the meetings raised questions about delays in payments under schemes such as Griha Adhar and Ujjwala Yojana and expressed concerns about the financial pressures faced by families.
AAP Goa president Valmiki Naik said women across the state were increasingly concerned about inflation and the difficulties involved in accessing benefits under existing government schemes.
“Women are concerned about the rising cost of living and inflation. There is deep anger against the BJP government and Chief Minister Pramod Sawant over the difficulties women face in receiving Griha Adhar payments. In groups of 100 residents, we are finding that barely 10 have received payments, which raises serious questions about the implementation of the scheme,” Naik said.
AAP Goa Women’s Wing president Mamata Maben said women in Mormugao taluka had raised concerns about the implementation of Griha Adhar and Ujjwala Yojana, alleging that the benefits were not reaching ordinary Goan households as expected.
“Women are expressing frustration and helplessness over how difficult it has become to manage household expenses. They are questioning the implementation of existing schemes and are looking for assurances that financial assistance will reach them,” Maben said.
AAP vice-president Sunil Signapurkar said women he met in Pernem had referred to the party’s governance record in Delhi and Punjab while discussing the proposed monthly guarantee.
“Many women have expressed interest in AAP’s promise of ₹3,000 per month for every woman in Goa, without terms and conditions. They see this as a potential source of support amid rising household expenses,” Signapurkar said.
AAP Ponda Assembly president Geetesh Naik said concerns over welfare delivery and increasing medical expenses were prominent among women voters in Ponda.
He criticised the BJP government’s implementation of welfare schemes, including Griha Adhar and Ujjwala Yojana, and said these concerns had featured in discussions during the party’s outreach meetings.
AAP Goa leader Mahesh Satelkar said households in Aldona were facing financial pressures due to rising expenses, including electricity bills. He said women attending the meetings had discussed the proposed ₹3,000 monthly guarantee and its potential role in helping families manage their budgets.
AAP vice-president Roque Mascarenhas said women in Curtorim had raised concerns about pending payments under Ujjwala Yojana. He claimed that around two lakh beneficiaries across Goa were yet to receive payments, adding that delays were placing additional pressure on household finances.
The AAP Ki Chai meetings form part of the party’s outreach across Goa, providing a platform for leaders to discuss household finances, welfare delivery and the proposed monthly financial assistance scheme.
AAP leaders said the response at the meetings reflected concerns among women over the cost of living and the delivery of existing welfare benefits. The party is presenting Kejriwal’s ₹3,000 monthly guarantee as a proposed measure to provide financial support to women across the state.
