From the world of fashion designing to politics, Ribandar-based Suvarsha Naik has carved a niche for herself. She is now in the fray for upcoming CCP election from ward number 30. And what makes her different is that she is without any panel, independent, all set to work for the people of her ward. www.goanewshub.com spoke to her on World Women’s Day
- This is for the first time that you have decided to contest election, what was the reason?
I have grown up in Raibandar, and my villagers have shown trust in me to contest this CCP elections from ward number 30. It will be a pleasure to serve my people through this opportunity.
I think development is a continuous process, and I look forward to continue the good work initiated by our sitting corporator, Rupesh Halarnkar. We will collectively bring a much-desired positive change in Raibandar.
- Why have not chosen to contest on any panel?
I want to develop Raibandar with my fresh ideas and the valuable opinions of the villagers. If I contest under any panel, I might have to work according to the political orders of that panel. I don’t want to do that.
- Do you think you will be able to give justice to your ward?
I’m 100% sure that I will be able to develop my ward, with the support of my villagers, and experienced people supporting me.
That is my sole aim of contesting elections.
- Do you foresee Panaji becoming a Smart City in the future?
Smart city can only be achieved with the collective efforts of CCP, government and with the consultation & consent of Panjekars/Raibandkars. If I get elected, I will give my full cooperation and efforts to see Panaji become a smart city.
- What are your promises to the people?
I promise to the people of my ward, that I will be fully determined to bring infrastructural development in Raibandar. Health centre, crematorium, good roads, cleanliness and beautification of Raibandar are my priorities. I will form an advisory/ward committee, which will include people who have innovative ideas for the development of Raibandar. We will also make sure that no illegalities take place in Raibandar.
