Panaji: The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Thursday demanded that President’s Rule be imposed in TMC-ruled West Bengal, citing the alarming level of violence against Hindus under the pretext of opposing the Waqf Amendment Bill.

Addressing a press conference in Margao, South Goa, VHP National General Secretary Milind Parande said that due to the escalating violence against Hindus in West Bengal, the VHP has decided to conduct demonstrations across all districts in the country on April 19, demanding President’s Rule in the state.

Parande stated that a memorandum would be submitted to the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, during the demonstrations scheduled for April 19 through the respective District Collectors.

He also said that Minister Siddiqullah Chawdhury had made anti-constitutional statements, and action should be taken against him. Parande emphasized that while protests are a right, violence against the Hindu community is unacceptable.

Hindus from Murshidabad, Malda, and Siliguri have been facing violence. “CM Mamata Banerjee is only offering lip service to the violence. She should have taken action against her ministers who are making objectionable statements,” he added.

Parande further stated that there was an attempt to cleanse Hindus from Murshidabad by taking advantage of the Waqf Amendment Bill. “There is serious concern about the situation in West Bengal,” he said.

The VHP leader also noted that the role of sleeper cells, comprising Bangladeshis in states like West Bengal and Bihar, in such violence could not be ruled out.

Speaking further, Parande mentioned that during a recent VHP meeting at the Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, the organization resolved to launch a nationwide awareness campaign.

“The campaign aims to advocate for freeing temples from government control and promoting greater autonomy for Hindu religious institutions,” he said.

Parande added that the VHP will undertake a Hitachintak Abhigyan campaign in November, aiming to enroll over one crore members.

He also raised concerns about the imbalance in the Hindu population in the country, calling it dangerous for the nation as a whole.

“Even the Governor of Goa, P. S. Sreedharan Pillai, has mentioned a similar situation in the state. He specifically highlighted the significant drop in the Christian population percentage in Goa, coupled with an alarming rise in the Muslim population percentage,” he added.

Parande further said, “We are seeing a glaring example of this in Goa, with a sudden influx of Muslims from various states and seemingly systematic settlement of these Muslims in various assembly constituencies, indicating a nefarious design. The authorities must pay attention to such population imbalances.”
