Panaji: With the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) hinting at an alliance with the Goa Forward Party (GFP), the Congress in Goa on Saturday said its alliance talks with the regional outfit were still underway.

Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Girish Chodankar told reporters in Panaji that the Goa Forward Party has been its alliance partner since the 2022 elections and that discussions on an alliance with the party are still ongoing.

Chodankar said that the Goa Forward Party is in talks with the Congress central leadership regarding a pre-poll alliance for the 2027 Goa Assembly elections.

“I confirmed with my high command again this morning. They have said that the talks for an alliance are still on,” the GPCC chief said.

His statement came hours before AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal’s visit to the coastal state, reportedly to announce an alliance with the GFP.

Hoardings have already appeared along national highways, showing AAP and GFP jointly attacking the BJP and the Congress.
