Margao: Sardesai on Monday launched development activity worth around 22 crores in Fatorda. MMC Chairperson Lyndon Pereira, Councillors Puja Naik, Ravindra Naik and others were present on the occasion. While stating that some members of the ruling party hailing from Fatorda are constantly trying to create hurdles in developmental works in the constituency, MLA Vijai Sardesai has assured that despite this, by new year all the roads and drainages in his constituency will be in place, with facelifts of many areas, thanks to the Fatorda model of Development by Consent.
Road widening from Bolshe Circle to Feriera Garden at Sonsoddo, widening of roads and construction of drains around Don Bosco College, hot-mixing of internal roads at SGPDA Market, hot-mixing of roads at Pajifond and widening of road from Gogol junction to Maruti temple are among the works launched on Monday. Sardesai informed the people that along with widening of roads, beautification of the road at Bolshe circle will be done by placing benches similar to those at Opinion Poll Square. “Even this path could be used as a walking track as it will be around 900 meters long’. He said.
“Along with public safety on the road, the complete facelift of this area will take place after the project is completed, and within three months, this road will be widened”. He said.
He said that through the ‘Sunday Dialogue’ program, people had demanded widening of roads to avoid accidents. “Landlord Noronha Fereira helped us by gifting 1700 sq mtrs of land for this good cause”. The credit of development doesn’t go to me alone, but to people like Fereira and others who wholeheartedly supported our development plans, He said. It is with this generous support from the people that development is moving fast forward despite active interference by some ruling party members from Fatorda to block progress within the constituency. I’m proud that we have tackled them effectively and got the necessary sanction to top ahead. He stated. Development by Consensus has always been our mantra.
