Panaji: In a proud moment for the State, indigenous dairy cow of Goa -Shweta Kapila, has received recognition as Goan breed of cattle by ICAR- National Bureau of Animal Genetic Resources (NBAGR).
This local breed of cows, prevalent in Valpoi and Saakeri regions of the Satari taluka in North Goa as well as in some parts of South Goa, had earlier shown prominent presence of A2 milk. A2 milk is considered to be healthier when compared to A1.
Sharing the information of the same, chief minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Monday tweeted, “I am glad that Shweta Kapila cow has received recognition as Goan breed of cattle by ICAR- National Bureau of Animal Genetic Resources (NBAGR). The Shweta Kapila cows are known for the nutritional value of their A2 rich milk. @icarindia.”

Congratulating the team of ICAR in Goa, Sawant tweeted, “I congratulate the ICAR Goa team for their efforts and wish them very best in their future endeavours.”
