St Cruz resident Nazario D’Souza booked for insulting National Flag

Panaji: Goa police on Thursday booked a man for insulting National Flag through his post on the social media.
A senior police official said that Old Goa police have filed FIR against one Nazario D’Souza, a resident of Santa Cruz village near Panaji, under Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act.
A local panchayat member Inacio Domnick Pereira had filed a complaint against D’Souza after he posted a picture insulting the National Flag and also Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Police said that besides booking the accused under National Honour Act, the case is also filed against him under section 500 of Indian Penal Code (defamation).
As per police complaint filed by Pereira, D’Souza posted objectionable picture of National Flag on his social media account on the eve of Independence Day.
Police said that D’Souza was called for questioning and further investigation is on.
This is second case filed against D’Souza. In the past, he was booked for insulting the Archbishop of Goa through his post on social media.
