Only urgent matters in South Goa courts, advisory issued

Margao: The Courts in South Goa district will undertaken only urgent works between 11 am to 1 p.m. from May 19 onwards till further orders, reads the circular which is issued at the backdrop of Lockdown4.0.

The circular issued by Principal District and Sessions Judge B P Deshpande reads that the courts in South Goa district shall undertake only remand work and extremely urgent matters including anticipatory bail applications, bail applications, injuctions, stay etc between 11 am to 1 pm from 19th May 2020 until further orders, on all working days with minimum staff members, ie one clerk and one peon only.

The order states that in case of urgency and on instructions of the Principal District Judge, the Judicial officers and concerned staff shall be available on phone calls as and when any communication is made to them telephonically.

The order also mentions that all civil matters which are below five years old and where there is no urgency shall be posted in June 2020 an all criminal matters where there is no urgency shall be posted from 8th June 2020 onwards.

All the matters which are above five years old, matters wherein there are directions, and custody matters shall be posted from 8th June 2020 onwards by taking precautions that the oldest matter shall be kept commencing from the week of 8th June 2020.

The matters which are kept for orders, judgments, final hearing and the matters which are at the fag end, shall be posted from 8th June 2020 onwards.

In the various directives, the order also says that no person would be allowed to enter the court premises without wearing mask.
