Panaji: Even as State Health Minister Vishwajit Rane on Monday demanded for one month long lockdown of the state to control COVID-19 spread, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said “at least, till now, no decision is taken in that regard.”
Speaking to reporters after chairing a meeting to review the current COVID-19 situation, Sawant said that the second wave is dangerous and the state government has created necessary medical infrastructure to cater to the infected patients.
“Second wave is very dangerous. No one should stay back at home but get admitted to hospital once they go through any symptoms,” he said.
“We have created necessary infrastructure and increased the number of beds. At least till now we have not taken the decision on lockdown but strictly we will be taking action on violations of covid19 protocol in weddings and other events,” Rane added.
The chief minister said “at least, till now, there is no possibility but if this situation continues then we may have to take the decision.”
