Panaji: Asserting a month long lockdown of the state, State Health Minister Vishwajit Rane on Monday said that Goa might lose 200-300 more lives per day in the next ten days.

Rane said that he would be holding an emergency meeting with chief minister Pramod Sawant asserting for the lockdown of the state.

“In my interaction with experts, I have been told that we might lose 200-300 more lives per day in the next 10 days, the situation is really grim,” Rane said in a series of tweets released here.

“We are doing our best to save lives. I am confident that Hon’ble CM will take our request into consideration on top priority,” he said in another tweet.

The minister also said “Rane said As much as economic activities are important, it is also important to save lives with stricter measures. Perhaps a lockdown may solve in breaking the chain. We need strict measures and SOPs along with a lockdown for 30 days.”

Rane said “Imposing a lockdown is extremely crucial at this point if we wish to break the chain. I’ll be conducting a meeting with the Chief Secretary & with his guidance; we will come up with an appropriate solution that will be in the best interest of the people of Goa.”

He also tweeted “Let us all remember that we are losing precious lives. We lost a 31-year-old patient (the youngest in the state) to coronavirus. This was due to late admission to the hospital.”

The minister said “the time has come for Goa to go under a complete lockdown at least for a month as we cannot afford to lose more lives & I shall appeal to the Chief Minister regarding the same”
