Panaji: A delegation of Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party (MGP) on Thursday met Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai urging his intervention in poor internet connectivity in the state, which has plagued the student community.

MGP MLA Sudin Dhavalikar accompanied by Party President Deepak Dhavalikar met the Governor at Raj Bhavan. Talking to reporters after meeting the Governor, Senior Dhavalikar said that the poor internet connectivity has taken the state back by almost 20 years.

The MGP leaders submitted a memorandum to the Governor citing that the bad internet connectivity has been affecting online studies and future prospects of the students, especially in the rural areas.

Dhavalikar suggested that the state government should install mobile towers on three tyre cycles for better connectivity.

He alleged that the wires put up for wi-fi connections by the members of his party were snapped by miscreants, belonging to the rival political outfits.
