Aam Aadmi Party Calangute candidate Sudesh Mayekar have accused Michael Lobo, ex-MLA of Calangute Constituency, of using taxi drivers to earn his political fortune and leaving the BJP party to seek better opportunities. Furthermore he urged the Taxi operators to support the Aam Aadmi Party as it represents the future of the sector.
AAP candidate Sudesh Mayekar said, “Lobo hasn’t joined Congress to resolve the Taxi operators’ problem so do not fall for his statement. He left the BJP because the party did not offer his wife a Siolim ticket. Lobo has ruined Calangute and now he is set to ruin Siolim.”.
Adding he said, “Once AAP is elected to power, a corporation will be formed that would be staffed mostly by taxi operators, allowing them to decide when and whether they will be covered by apps, and when to hike fares. Apart from this we will implement faceless RTO services and in the case of accident the government will bear the medical expenses”.
Chetan Kamat, AAP leader told media on Saturday, “The BJP party and the ex-MLA of Calangute have destroyed the lives of Taxi operators. Lobo is spreading lies about leaving the BJP party to help the common people. He was a Cabinet minister for the past 10 years, but never delivered on his promises”.
Kamat asserted that the Congress and the BJP are sides of the same coin. Their leaders are switching parties for their benefit. Therefore, I urge taxi operators to support AAP as it is their only hope.
He appealed to Taxi operators not to refuse money offered to them by MLAs. Accept the money as it is taxpayers’ money. However, don’t forget that taxi operators spent 18 days on Azad Maidan with their family defending their rights. Accept money from them and vote for the AAP.
He further said, “Despite having been given a showcause notice for not paying GST, Goa Miles is still operating in the state. Goa Miles has not paid more than 20 crores to the government. This is a huge amount. Yet, the government is not supporting its own people but promoting the growth of outsiders’ businesses in the state”.
