The Goa Trinamool Congress today stepped up its attack on the ruling BJP for falsely propagating TMC as an anti-Hindu party. Addressing the media in Margao, Goa TMC leaders Shri Jayesh Shetgaonkar and Smt Avita Bandodkar busted BJP’s fake propaganda and exposed how it was spreading misinformation about Mamata Banerjee.
Slamming the BJP for trying to polarise the electorate in Goa in the name of religion, Shri Jayesh Shetgaonkar said, ‘Circulating fake videos is BJP’s cheap strategy to defame TMC. Can you imagine how rattled they are? Even when unemployment is at its peak, religion is their only agenda.’
Shri Shetgaonkar added, ‘The BJP is labelling TMC as anti-Hindu because it is rattled by our alliance with MGP. In Mormugao, a pandal was damaged and the idol is still at the police station. If they want to do something for Hindus, they should get the idol from the police station and reinstate it rather than trying to paint us as anti-Hindu and brainwashing the public.’
Condemning the BJP further, Smt Avita Bandodkar said, ‘Smt Mamata Banerjee is the daughter of a Hindu Brahmin. In West Bengal, where 70% of the population is Hindus ensured that TMC was voted to power and yet the BJP calls us anti-Hindu. This is absolutely wrong.’
She added, ‘11 lakh Hindus were left in the lurch by the BJP due to NRC in Assam. Why didn’t anyone question BJP then?’
Reiterating what our party stands for, Smt Avita said, ‘TMC stands for temple, mosque church. The party stands to unite people and not divide them. And this is evident from the support the TMC has received from diverse communities in the state.’
The Goa Trinamool Congress strongly condemns BJP’s attempts to malign our party. We are committed to India’s progress and will not allow divisive forces to play the communal card in Goa.
