Goa has no community transmission of COVID-19: CM

Panaji: Chief minister Pramod Sawant on Saturday claimed that there was no community transmission of COVID-19 in the state, which is reflected in the kind of positive cases tested by the authorities.

The coastal state has tested seven patients positive, while there is no death.

Sawant told reporters in Panaji on Saturday that considering the kind of cases that have tested positive, it is clear that “there has been no community transmission.”

He said that out of seven, six patients had come from abroad while one is a brother of infected patient. “There is no community transmission and that was possible only due to the lockdown and the social distancing practiced by everyone of us. We should continue this strict lockdown till April 14,” the chief minister said.

He said that all the positive tested patients are healthier and they were carriers. “There could be such more people in the state,” he added advising social distancing.

Meanwhile, the state government has warned all the landlords who want to evict their tanents including labourers and students during the lockdown period.

He also said that around 1,000 labourers who are lodged in different camps are looked after by providing them three time meal and other things including hygine kits.
