Panaji: BJP MLA Aleixo Sequeira was sworn in Pramod Sawant led cabinet on Sunday, hours after PWD minister Nilesh Cabral resigned.
The 66-year-old leader was sworn in at Raj Bhavan by Governor P S Sreedharan Pillai in presence of chief minister Pramod Sawant.
Cabral who was holding portfolios including Public Works Department, Environment and Law and Judiciary had resigned on Sunday, to make way for the induction of Sequeira.
The MLA was amongst eight legislators who had shifted side from Congress to BJP last year.
Talking to reporters, Sequeira said that when they joined BJP, the chief minister had made a commitment that there will be development in their constituencies.
He said that he is happy to be inducted in the cabinet and would work for the development of the state.
