Panaji: MGP leader Sudin Dhavalikar’s meeting with BJP’s State election incahrge Devendra Fadanavis in Mumbai has once again resumed the talks of alliance between both the parties, who have always claimed itself as natural allies.

Fadanavis in his interview to a local news channel, during his visit to Goa, had not ruled out the possibility of alliance with like-minded parties.

Sources in the MGP and BJP confirmed that Dhavalikar had met Fadanavis in Mumalobai to resume talks of alliance between both the parties.

While there is opposition for such a pre-poll alliance with MGP, senior Dhavalikar is convinced that it is an easy way for the party to be in power during next tenure.

Sources privy to the discussion held between Fadanavis and Dhavaliakar claimed that the latter has asked for either Governor’s Post or Rajya Sabha seat while he will vacate Madkai constituency for his son.

The MGP has also demanded that the BJP-MGP alliance should not give tickets to Govind Gaude, Manohar Ajgaonkar and Deepak Pauskar in their respective constituencies.

MGP is ready to settle for around 5-6 seats, if alliance is forged as per their wish. The alliance may not include some of the crucial seats like Ponda and Mandrem in the kitty of MGP while Pernem will remain with Bandodkar-found party.

MGP is likely to ask for Sanvordem seat along with Shiroda or Priol.

The current talks can cause worry for the leaders like Jit Arolkar who is already campaigning in Mandrem.

The Mandrem seat will be left out to BJP, as per the initial discussions. So also is about Dr Ketan Bhatikar in Ponda and Naresh Sawal in Bicholim, who have gone all out on MGP symbol.
