Panaji: The All Goa Merchants Association’s Unified Forum (AGMAUF) came down heavily on Narayan Karekar on Tuesday and claimed that Narayan Karekar is a president of a defunct Merchants’ association. “The meeting of CM and defunct merchants’ association was staged, we do not support Narayan Karekar. We feel CM should have taken all the representatives of Merchants’ Association in confidence,” said the Forum.
AGMAUF also warned that although the strike on January 7 stands cancelled they will not hesitate protest in the future if their demands are not met. Moreover, the forum also demanded that the new amended Ordinance concerning municipalities should be scrapped as it is detrimental to the merchants. The forum has requested the CM to have a meeting with them to formulate a new rules concerning municipalities.
