AAP’s rally addresses the vital issue of unemployment plaguing the residents of Goa today

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) today organized Rozgar Yatras at Margao & Fatorda that attracted hundreds of people from their homes.

The people of these areas are extremely upset that the sitting MLAs have done nothing for them since they got elected and have decided to lend their support to the Aam Aadmi Party. This was evident from the large number of residents who participated in the Rozgar Yatras organised by AAP.

Sandesh Telekar Dessai, AAP Goa Vice President and Fatorda Assembly-in-charge stated that even highly educated youth are not getting jobs and are thinking of migrating to other states to look for employment opportunities. Fatorda and Margao have been heavily impacted by the slow down in tourism. Many residents depend on tourism allied work to get by whether it is Taxikars or those working in the hospitality industry. Moreover the youth have received no support for Govt Jobs. The MLAs of both these constituencies are famous for having sat in their big houses while Goenkars were suffering due to the lockdown

The Rozgar Yatra was attended by 100s of party volunteers and this was followed by booth level meetings that were attended by 100s of residents. The AAP is holding 75 booth level meetings daily during the Rozgar Yatra and today had 3 rallies at Margao, Fatorda and Saligao

“Unlike the tall promises made by the elected representatives here, nothing was done to create either job or business opportunities since they were elected. The farmers from Goa too are not getting the proper price for their farm produce. The situation is very grim here,” Desai said.

AAP has announced a detailed roadmap on how to create jobs in Goa. AAP have given an assurance of providing a sum of Rs 3000 to one youth in every family till he finds a job. Also, if the only earning member of the family has lost his job due to the ban on mining activities or due to loss of tourism in Goa, the family would be entitled to a sum of Rs 5000 till he gets a job back or tourism picks up.
To make the youths more employable and their skillset more productive, the party has also assured the setting up of a skill development university in lines with the Delhi’s DSEU.
