Vasco: Union AYUSH minister Shripad Naik on Monday said that the Yoga would be part of the educational  curriculum from next academic year onwards.

Naik also said that main function of  International Yoga Day would be celebrated on June 21 at Ranchi, Jharkhand which will be participated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The minister said that AYUSH ministry has already sent a proposal to union HRD ministry, a proposal to include Yoga in educational curriculum.

“We expect that the proposal would be cleared as soon as possible and Yoga would be part of curriculum from next (2020-2021) academic year onwards,” he said.

Naik stated that the yoga would be compulsory for students right from school to college level and it would be made part of their Physical Education (PE) curriculum.

He said that union government has already started introducing yoga to defence and para-military forces in the country.

Meanwhile, Naik said that International Yoga Day’s main function would be held at Ranchi in Jharkhand which will be participated by the Prime Minister.

“Several yoga gurus and invitees from abroad will be participating in the function,” he said adding that the awarenss about Yoga has been increasing worldwide and also in India.
The number of countries which host International Yoga Day has risen from 177 to almost 200, he said.
