Fatorda: After being kept on hold for almost 19 years, St Francis Xavier Chapel at Madel will soon be re-located to a new place thanks to the efforts of Goa Forward Party Chief and Deputy Chief Minister Vijai Sardesai.

The managing committee of the Chepal at Maddel were knocking various doors to relocate this structure which existed opposite Osia Complex, right at the roadside.

The first ever success was achieved by the committee when then chief minister Manohar Parrikar and Sardesai had drawn the plans to relocate it with the help of GSIDC. This was before Lusofonia Games were held in the state. But due to issue of various clearances, the proposal was held back.

When Vijai Sardesai became Minister he once again took up the relocation proposal of the Committee with late CM Manohar Parrikar and got it reapproved , got all needed clearances and inaugrated the work on 21th Oct 2018 at the hands of Ex Parish Priest of Holy Spirit Church Fr Avinash Rebello,.

The relocation of the Chapel has been considered as one of the important step for providing smooth roads for Fatorda and also reflects on integrity of government for all inclusive development.
