The drug IVERMECTIN can be used as a prophylaxis (prevention) for covid 19. There has been lot of research on it nearly 27 randomised controlled trials proving its success. Weekly prophylaxis is recommended with a dosage of 0.2mg per kg body weight which is around 12mg once a week for a person weighing 70 kgs. It should not be given to kids and also not administered in pregnancy and lactation. A success rate of 84% has been seen when it has been used as a preventive measure.
I personally feel if widespread Ivermectin prophylaxis is given to Goa, even India, we will be able to reduce the cases by 3 to 4 weeks. Zimbabwe is one classic example of cases reduction when ivermectin was used as prophylaxis administered in late January.
VACCINATION is the key but IVERMECTIN WILL DEFINITELY SERVE AS A BRIDGE FOR VACCINATION and hopefully flatten the curve soon.
