Union Budget gives hope to India’s farmers: Vijai Sardesai

Panaji: Deputy Chief Minister Vijai Sardesai on Friday labeled Union budget as the one giving hope to India’s farmers.

Sardesai, who also holds Agriculture Portfolio in Pramod Sawant-led cabinet, said that the Budget 2019 is futuristic and is one of the hope especially for India’s farmers, middle class and  entrepreneurs.

“As agriculture minister I welcome the budget’s emphasis on zero budget farming as a means to double the farmers’ income,” he said.

Sardesai, who heads regional political outfit Goa Forward Party, said that the proposal to expand Self Help Groups to all districts, one women in every SHG to get a loan up to Rs one lakh under Mudra yojana will take the women of the nation forward.

He also praised major sops for start ups due to extension in exemption period from capital gains.
