Traffic on KRCL disrupted as Vashishti River bridge overflows at Ratnagiri

Panaji:  The traffic on Konkan Railway Corporation’s route was disrupted on Thursday with water level of Vashishti River bridge between Chiplun and Kamathe in Maharashtra rising above danger level.

KRCL’s Deputy General Manager (Public Relations) Baban Ghatge said  that the traffic has been suspended on the route since Thursday morning as due to heavy rains, water level of Vashishti River bridge between Chiplun and Kamathe station in Ratnagiri region has risen above danger level.

“In view of the safety of passengers, train services in this section are suspended temporarily,” he said.

Ghatge said that eight trains on this route have been regulated due to the disruption of the route.

This is the second disruption on the KRCL route in the last seven days.

Earlier, on July 19, the train services on KRCL remained shut for a day due to seepage of water in Old Goa Tunnel near Panaji.
