Valpoi: In Covid 19 Pandemic times, the Goa Government have decided to give relief to the traditional occupations people from the fields of carpentry, coconut pluckers, farmer, Ganesh idol clay makers, florists, Rickshaw motor, motor pilot, and many more street vendors from 69 different categories of traditional occupations. Rs 5,000 is One Time Grant which is supposed to be implemented through Social Welfare Department.

The scheme will benefit around 25,000 people, who are hit hard due to covid-19.

But the reality is different. The department had kept only 500 forms in offices at Valpoi.  The people in traditional occupations are yet to get these forms. As per rough estimate, Sattari taluka was supposed to be one of the biggest beneficiary. The traditional occupants complaint that those who work in private sector took the forms while those eligible are waiting for them.

“I had visited three times at the Valpoi Deputy Collector office to collect the OTS Scheme form, but every time I had been told that there is no form, forms are already finished. I am a traditional coconut plucker. I am requesting the chief minister to provide the more forms,” said Chandrakant Sawant.
