Margao: Shadow Council of Margao (SCM) convenor Savio Coutinho took a dig at Goa Waste Management Corporation (GWMC) alleging that they are presenting an inflated costs for the setting up of the biomethanation machine.
The GWMC has projected an estimated cost of Rs 4.81 crore for a biomethanation machine having capacity of 5TPD. On the other hand, Goa State Urban Development Agency, which is a different department, has proposed to set up a similar machine of 5TPD capacity at a cost of Rs 2.29 crore for Sanquelim Municipal Council.
“What is the specialty in the machines proposed for Margao, that the estimated cost is projected as Rs 4.81crores per machine having capacity of 5TPD. While the machines for Sanquelim Municipal Council are pegged at Rs 2.29crores,” asked Coutinho.
“With these inflated costs one can imagine the difference, since MMC is setting up 7 such plants, each costing Rs 4.81 crore,” Coutinho added.
