Panaji: RGP chief Manoj Parab on Friday said that their MLA Viresh Borkar will not be a part of the united opposition on the floor of the House during the upcoming Assembly session.
Parab said that the opposition parties never supported RGP on the issues raised to save Goa. “We don’t want to be a part of the united opposition on the floor of the House. This is a decision taken by the core committee of the party,” he said.
Addressing a press conference after his seven-month-long absence from the political scene, Parab also said that the party will not contest all constituencies in 2027. “We will contest on select seats depending on our strength there,” he said.
Speaking about his absence, Parab said he had taken a step back and was monitoring the happenings in the state. He said that the RGP was active even during his absence with MLA Viresh Borkar taking up issues related to Goa.
Parab said that the RGP is now back with new vigour as the space for opposition has been left vacant. He said that the opposition parties have failed to take a stand.
The RGP will now take up the issues without any compromises. “We will continue with the revolution,” he said.
He added that the RGP has always been active on various issues like the cash-for-jobs scam, land-grab scam, and other concerns.
Parab said that the cash-for-jobs scam originated during the Congress-led government and has continued under the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). “The BJP has corporatized the cash-for-jobs scam,” he said.
The RGP chief said that Borkar was the first MLA to demand the Staff Selection Commission. He also claimed that the RGP has stopped many cases of land grabbing.
