Pernem: A written complaint has been filed with the Mandrem Police alleging that a car was deliberately driven into a woman in broad daylight in the Tembwada area of Morjim. The complainant has demanded that an FIR be registered against the accused for offences including attempted murder, reckless driving, causing injuries, criminal intimidation and damage to property.
Dilip L. Mangesh Morje, a resident of Tembwada, Morjim, submitted the complaint to the Police Inspector of Mandrem Police Station on July 17, seeking criminal action against Ankur Kumar and others.
According to the complaint, the incident occurred at around 12 noon on July 17 when Morje and his family members were present at their property bearing Survey No. 119/3. His daughter, Deepika Digambar Tari, was walking on the internal road near the house.
The complaint alleges that Ankur Kumar arrived in a car (GA-07-P-0854) along with Anil Naik and drove the vehicle at high speed in a rash and reckless manner. It further claims that the accused reversed the car towards the complainant’s brother-in-law, Shiva Pednekar, allegedly attempting to run him over. Pednekar reportedly escaped by jumping aside.
The complainant has alleged that the car then rammed into the compound wall, damaging the property, before being driven forward and hitting the right leg of his daughter.
According to the complaint, when family members rushed to her rescue, the accused allegedly reversed the vehicle again at high speed, endangering those present at the spot. During the commotion, the complainant’s daughter allegedly lost a gold necklace and suffered injuries to her right hand while trying to protect herself.
The complainant has also alleged that the accused and Anil Naik have an ongoing dispute with the family over a neighbouring property, which is currently pending before a court. He has claimed that the alleged incident was linked to the property dispute and was intended to intimidate the family.
The complaint seeks registration of an FIR under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Motor Vehicles Act. It also calls for a thorough investigation, recording of eyewitness statements, verification of the victim’s medical reports and strict legal action against the accused.
Police have initiated a preliminary inquiry into the complaint. The allegations have not yet been independently verified, and no official statement has been issued on the matter.
