Nilesh Vernekar, President of Siolim Constituency OBC Mahasang joined Aam Aadmi Party in the presence of AAP national Convenor and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, on Tuesday.
Vernekar has been vocal about issues affecting Siolim residents. Previously he had voiced his opposition to an illegal development on the Chapora riverfront, located below Siolim bridge. He had also become vocal on the floating jetty at Chapora river. He also voiced concerns about the state of the roads at Siolim, as well as irregular water supply in Guddem.
He has been on the forefront when it comes to helping the needy. He distributed wheelchairs to persons with disabilities in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic and other essential commodities to those in need. Furthermore, he provided free sanitization services at various religious places and government offices. He organized various medical camps including blood donation and eye camps.
He is a Founder and President of Swami Samarth Math of Siolim. He also founded Samarthan Sanghatana-Goa. He is a President of Kulpurush Mahalasa Temple of Morjim and Kaloba Temple of Guddem-Siolim. He is a member of Gomantak Marathi Academy and Save Chapora River.
