Panaji: Women Police Station which is investigating the case against Goa Pradesh Mahila Congress Committee President Pratima Coutinho and four others in connection with revealing of identity of minor victim is concerned has been actually shielding her, Shiv Sena alleged today.
Shiv Sena Goa spokesman Rakhi Prabhudesai Naik in a press statement has said that during her interaction with Police Inspector Sudiksha Naik, she came to know that they are yet to collect the evidences that are required to take this case to logical end. “After filing FIR in this case, nothing seems to be happening to an extent that police have not even conducted panchanama of the place where the incident happened.
Coutinho has been on the denial mode even after FIR is filed and has given statements like she never put up the identity of victim’s mother on social media,” she said.
“While we have screenshots of the whatsapp group where she has posted the picture of mother of the victim along with the message revealing her name, police is still investigating the case like a normal matter,” Sena added.
Naik has said the seriousness of the sections like Juvenile Justice Act and POCSO which are imposed against Coutinho do not reflect in the investigations.
“We demand that Coutinho should be taken into police custody for interrogation and her mobile, from where she has posted the message on social media, should be seized,” she said.
“The forensic examination of her mobile phone and electronic devices which were used to commit this crime is crucial for charge-sheeting the case and also to get conviction for the accused,” she said.
We are surprised that no attempts are made to get custody of other accused like Deputy Sarpanch of Netravali panchayat Abhijit Desai, who are likely to destroy evidence and influence the witnesses in this case, Naik added.
She has said the crucial witness here is the victim and her family including her mother. “The incident of forcing her mother to swear an affidavit indicates how the witnesses are being influenced,” she alleged.
“We have come to know that the affidavit was submitted to the police station by Abhijit Desai, while Coutinho went to the media with the copy of the confidential affidavit which is a crucial part of the investigation in this case,” Naik pointed out.
“We urge Women Police Station not to get pressurized or get influenced and conduct impartial investigation in this case. We have been monitoring each step of the investigation in this case,” she added.
