Panaji: The Congress party said that Telangana Chief minister Revanth Reddy would be participating in the ongoing Goy Rakhon Yatra (Save Goa campaign) in South Goa on Sunday, today.
Goa Pradesh Congress committee President Girish Chodankar told GNH on Sunday that Reddy would be arriving in Goa this afternoon to participate in the Yatra, which will be held later in the evening at Cuncolim and Quepem Assembly constituencies.
Both the constituencies are represented by Congress leaders – leader of opposition Yuri Alemao and MLA Altone D’Costa – respectively.
The official Facebook page of Indian National Congress Goa unit has put up a post welcoming Reddy in the state on Sunday.
While there is no formal confirmation about the schedule, the party sources confirmed that Reddy would be paying tributes to Chieftain’s Memorial at Cuncolim. The memorial is built to remember the first ever revolt against foreign powers during Portuguese rule in the state.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was scheduled to participate in the yatra on Sunday. A senior party official said that Gandhi’s visit has been cancelled due to ongoing agitation demanding resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar in New Delhi.
