Panaji: Goa chief minister Dr Pramod Sawant has said that the legal action would be taken against the CJP protestors, who were shouting “Hindutva Muradabad” slogans during a protest in Panaji on Sunday.
A video of CJP protestors shouting Hindutva Murdabad has surfaced online during the protest held in Panaji on Sunday demanding resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
“I have seen the social media post. I have asked them to conduct the investigation. The required legal action would be taken against them,” Sawant told reporters in Panaji on Wednesday.
He said that the attempts were being made to create communal disharmony. “The way I can see that the protestors were trying to create communal disharmony, you all should also see that,” Sawant told media persons, asking them to condemn such incidents.
The chief minister said that the people from outside Goa were trying to create communal disharmony and it would not be tolerated by the government.
Reacting to the video, BJP Rajya Sabha MP Sadanand Tanavade questioned why such slogans were being given during the protest.
“BJP led government is getting mandate of the people everywhere. But these people want to create some kind of disturbances that is why these slogans are given,” Tanavade said.
If they wanted to speak on the Special Intensive Revision, then they should stick to the issue, he said, questioning why the protestors were hiding the faces.
The CJP Goa had protested on Sunday against the CEC. The protestors were stopped near Azad Maidan in Panaji by the authorities. Seven protestors were detained by police.
