Panaji: BJP will have its star campaigners including PM Narendra Modi and senior leaders Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari and Smruti Irani arriving in Goa to campaign for upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
The elections for both the seats of Lok Sabha in Goa are scheduled to be held on April 23 along with three State Legislative Assembly by-elections – Shiroda, Mandrem and Mapusa.
“We have invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address public meeting in Goa during second week of April. We are waiting for his confirmation to know the exact date,” BJP Goa Unit President Vinay Tendulkar told reporters on Thursday.
He said that senior BJP leaders including Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari and Smruti Irani will also arrive in Goa during the campaigning to address public meetings.
Tendulkar said that BJP will re-nominate both its sitting Members of Parliament – Shripad Naik (North Goa) and Narendra Sawaikar (South Goa) — in their respective Parliamentary Constituencies.
He said that party’s Central Committee will meet in Delhi on March 18 to formally announce the candidates.
