Panaji: A group of citizens led by Speaker of the Goa Legislative Assembly Ramesh Tawadkar on Friday filed a complaint against unknown persons after Pakistani flags were found painted on the road in Canacona town of South Goa.

Tawadkar, representing the Canacona Assembly constituency, filed a formal complaint about the three Pakistani flags painted on the road in Canacona by some unknown persons.

The complaint, filed on behalf of the general public of Canacona, mentions that the flags were painted at three different locations within the Canacona Municipal Council jurisdiction.

“Kindly take appropriate action against the unknown persons or culprits, and investigation may be carried out as per Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita,” the complaint reads.

Earlier during the day, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee Vice President Sunil Kawthankar had demanded action against the painting of Pakistani flags.

He said that the flags should not have been painted on Indian property; instead, they should have been burnt.

Kawthankar said that if these flags were painted as a mark of protest, it should not have been done at night. “The protest should have been held openly. Every Indian should protest in public against Pakistan,” he said.
