Fatorda: In what seems to be a proud moment for Goans, the officials of Mumbai Municipal Corporation today visited SGPDA fish market in Margao to draw some lessons, which can be replicated in their area.

The team of Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai Market Department led by Assistant Commissioner Dr Sangeeta Hasnale visited SGPDA market in Margao this morning. Mumbai Municipal Corporation owns all fish markets in Mumbai, some of which have become dilapidated due to old age, which requires to be redeveloped in near future.

The MCGM has said that they were highly impressed with the SGPDA market at Fatorda.

SGPDA Chairman Renuka da Silva accompanied the delegation and explained them about the market, which is one of the best facility in the country.

“We are honoured and it is a big achievement for us that the team of MCGM has arrived to see the market,” she said.

Da Silva stated that the market has been constructed to provide hygienic food to the people. She appealed FDA to conduct regular checks at the market of fish, fruits and vegetables so that the people get safe food.
