Panaji: Independent MLA Rohan Khaunte on Friday demanded resignation of chief minister Pramod Sawant after union government notified the award given by Mahadayi Water Disputes Tribunal.

Khaunte said that chief minister had sold his “mother” to save his chair.

“Karnataka has played tricky by showing it as drinking water project how they bypassed the environment clearance. There is huge disconnect of present cm with the leadership in the centre,” he said.

The Independent MLA also said that union minister

Shripad Naik should have done what Pralhad Joshi is doing for Karnataka.

“Dr Pramod Sawant and his cronies and bureaucracy have not been able to fix appointment with pm till date,” he said.

“For the sake of his chair, he sold his mother,” he said.

He recalled that united opposition’s demand for a white paper on Mahadayi was rejected by the CM.

“In the night the notification was issued, and immediately after that union minister Pralhad Joshi was there with Karnataka CM asking him for allocation of funds to construct dams,” Khaunte said.

“Every tactful handling of this subject by Karnataka shows our incapability of our CM of handling this subject,” he said.

“This has been a total failure of cm and the government. It is high time that cm on moral ground  should immediately resign. CM’s chair is not permanent. This decision will affect us permanently.”

“When Parrikar was there the issue was somewhere curtailed. Apolitically we had decided to take delegation with the PM,” he said.

He said that Mahadayi should be main issue for the upcoming zilla panchayat election.

Khaunte commented that “ to save his chair, he (CM) has sold Mahadayi which he claimed to be his mother.”
