Keri Paragliding tragedy will repeat again, if police don’t stop it

Pernem: The death of two persons including a Pune based tourist Shivani Dable was an incident waiting to be happened as law enforcement machinery had kept ignoring the illegalities.
The activity on Keri plateau was happening publicly without permission from the tourism department. The local police had failed miserably to take action against such unlawful act.

While the usual excuse could be the activity was going unnoticed for police, it is pertinent to note that if you look up in the sky, several times you would find paraglider flying around. But police had failed to act.

The unfortunate death of two persons including Paraglider pilot died due to malfunctioning of the gadget.

Accused Shekhar Raizada has been booked by the police under section which he is booked for deals with culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
Considering the magnitude of damage the accused has caused to lives and also to the state tourism sector knowingly that proper permissions are required from the concerned department, the accused should be punished more strictly.
He has not only acted in a way that resulted in culpable homicide but he has also cheated by offering services without having permission to him to give those services, charged tourists and committed forgery by keeping them in dark about validity of the business and also has caused damage to the tourism sector.

Such incident can have negative repercussion on the state tourism industry, forcing people to avoid visiting Goa considering such low safety standards in adventure sports segment.

Death of two persons should not be treated as an accident but a major conspiracy on the part of the operator, who has also put the life of his own staff in risk

BACKGROUND OF THE CASE

Two persons including a Pune-based woman tourist from Pune and her paragliding instructor pilot on the spot when they crashed from a height at Keri village in North Goa on Saturday.

Police spokesman said that Shivani Dable (27, Pune) and flying pilot Sumal Nepali (26, Nepal) died on the spot after crashing from a height at Keri Plateau, Keri, Pernem (North Goa).

He said that the incident happened on Saturday at 5 pm, when Shivani had opted for paragliding from a company, which was operating illegally.
As per the complaint, the paraglider crashed soon after taking off from the cliff due to which both the victims fell in the deep ravine.

The owner of the company Shekhar Raizada has been booked for endangering human life by Mandrem police. As per the offence booked, the accused with the knowledge that his act will endanger life of human being and in order to earn money, intentionally permitted deceased tourist and the pilot to paraglide resulting in their deaths.
