Panaji: AAP National Convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday accused BJP of trying to protect Goa chief minister Pramod Sawant despite allegations of corruptions leveled against him by the former Governor.
Addressing a press conference in Goa, Kejriwal also released the third guarantee of the party to provide free pilgrimage, once they are voted to power.
The Delhi chief minister is on a day long visit to the poll bound coastal state on Monday.
“When we announce guarantees, people ask me from where will I get the funds. Former governor Satya Pal Malik has given reply to it,” Kejriwal said.
“The Governor has said that during his one year tenure, he saw that there is largescale corruption in Goa,” he said referring to Malik’s interview on a national channel.
“If this had to be said by any opposition parties, then we could have understood, but BJP’s Governor is making these allegations against his government. In the last 75 years of free India, this is for the first time that any Governor has made such allegation against his own government,” he said.
Kejriwal said that Malik weighs his words before speaking. “The allegations leveled by Malik are serious. But unfortunately, BJP is trying to save its cihef minister. This means that BJP is publicly protecting their corrupt CM.”
Malik has also made allegation against the central leadership. He has made statement that when he informed about the corruption to the central leadership, they removed him from the post of Governor.
In yet another guarantee, Kejriwal on Monday announced free pilgrimage to religious centres including Ayodhya, once his party is voted to power in the coastal state.
He said that once his voted to power, the government will provide free pilgrimage trip to Ayodhya, Shirdi, Valankini and Ajmer Sharif.
“There is unemployment in Goa due to the wrong policies of Congress and BJP. Both the parties have not done anything to provide employment to the people,” he said.
AAP has assured that at least one person from the family would be given employment and till they don’t get it, they will be given unemployment allowance, Kejriwal recalled.
“We had also promised that considering the worst situation in tourism and mining industry, we will give Rs 5,000 per month for each family.”
He said that 1.12 lakh families have registered themselves in employment guarantee program initiated by the AAP.
“I would like to assure to all of them that Kejriwal ki guarantee hai, puri karke hi rahenge,” he said.
Kejriwal recalled that alike Delhi, the 300 units of electricity would be free per month per family and also will give uninterrupted electricity.
“In this program too, 2.75 lakh people registered,” he said.
Kejriwal said that the people are asking me from where the funds will come.
He said that it struck to his mind during his recent visit to Ayodhya that people should also be benefitted with such pilgrimage.
“That is why today I want to announce today that once our government is formed, we will provide free pilgrimage to certain destinations. We can add to the list later,” he said.
The Delhi chief minister said that free pilgrimage is not a new thing because his government has introduced “CM tirthyatra yojna” whose benefit has been taken by active in Delhi.
“In the first two years, more than 35,000 people were benefitted with it. We take them in Air conditioned train. We look after their all needs including meals,” he said.
Kejriwal said that Congress and BJP are together in the corruption. “That is why not a single congress minister has been booked for corruption during the tenure of BJP,” he said.
The Delhi Chief minister said that AAP will give the honest government for the first time to Goa. “There is no scarcity of revenue. We will fulfil all the guarantees made by me,” he added.
