Panaji: Goa cabinet on Wednesday relaxed the educational qualification for the post of Officer on Special Duty (OSD) after three ministers had urged that they were not finding like-minded officers for their work.

State Chief Minister Pramod Sawant told reporters after the cabinet meeting that the resolution was taken to relax qualification of OSD to the minister from graduation to 12th or diploma holder.

He said that the request to lower the educational qualification criteria was received from Deputy Chief Minister Chandrakant Kavlekar, State Revenue Minister Jeniffer Monserratte and State Ports Minister Michael Lobo.

“Now they are allowed to take the officer who is not a graduate degree holder,” Sawant said adding that all the three ministers had claimed that it was difficult to find the like-minded OSD of their choice who are graduate.
