Panaji : Goa Congress met DGP at Panaji Police Headquarters over Indian Super League issue on Saturday. Earlier, DGP had asked for an undertaking from Congress leaders who protested by stopping an ISL bus saying Goans should be given employment in various services required for ISL happening in Goa. The DGP had asked to submit undertakings from these Congress leaders to give an assurance that they will not protest and cause further disturbance during ISL matches.
However, Goa Congress leaders refused to give the undertaking. “Only Goans should be employed in ISL services, if this is not done in future we will protest during the matches, we don’t want to give any undertaking, if the police wants they can arrest us. We are ready to get arrested for Goans,” GPCC Vice President Sankalp Amonkar said. He went on to add that, “This was a responsibility of government of Goa to have a meeting with ISL officials and have negotiations to employ Goans but since they have clearly failed to do so, Goa Congress under the leadership of Digambar Kamat held the meeting in which the ISL officials agreed to hire Goan services for ISL.”
