Panaji: As a first step towards resuming the iron ore mining industry, which is shut since March 2018, the Goa Government has granted its permission to Nathurmal Mines at Harvalem to start operation after obtaining green clearance.

Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant said that permission is been granted to Nathurmal mines, who will now have to obtain fresh environment clearance from Ministry of Forest, Environment and Climate Change.

Once that is obtained, the lease holder will have to seek consent to operate from Goa State Pollution Control Board.

The mining lease is part of those 18 leases, which do not fall within the ambit of Supreme Court order dated February 7, 2018.
