Goa increases number of Covid-19 tests at health centres

Panaji: Although Goa’s coronavirus cases has been witnessing a down trend the State Health Department has increased the number of tests.
In the last few days, the health department has increased the number of tests conducted across the state at public health centres to an average of 2000. The number of tests had previously been reduced to 1000 and once even to 200 daily, informed DHS epidemiologist Dr Utkarsh Betodkar.
On Sunday, 115 people were tested positive of coronavirus while 135 patients recovered and were released.
Currently there are 1327 active corona patients in the state. The corona health centre in North Goa has a capacity of 275 beds out of which 220 are vacant. The South Goa health centre, which is the capacity of 60 bed 47 beds are vacant.
The government has enough space for treatment of the people the health department said. The respective number of patients currently undergoing treatment are 102 at Porvorim health centre, 109 at Margao health centre, 67 at Vasco health centre 40 at lot less centre, 104 at Ponda health centre, 82 at Panaji health centre and 68 at Chimbel health centre.
