Panaji: Goa government on Wednesday announced that the COVID-19 treatment in the private hospitals would be covered by its flagship medical insurance scheme.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant told reporters that the treatment for COVID-19 would be covered under the State government’s DDSSY medical scheme.
He said that the expenditure of the patient in private hospitals, up to 70-80 per cent, would be covered under the scheme.
Sawant said that the notification in this regard would be issued soon.
State government has already imposed a ceiling on the treatment cost of the COVID-19 patient in private hospitals in the state.
Besides state run institutions, several private hospitals are also treating people infected with the COVID-19 virus.
