Panaji: The Congress party will start the process of shortlisting the candidates for upcoming Goa elections from November 26, a senior party functionary said.
Goa Pradesh Congress Committee President Girish Chodankar told reporters on Tuesday that party’s observer Prakash Rathod would be holding meeting with all the 40 blocks in respective Assembly constituencies to shortlist the candidates.
He said that Rathod would be holding meeting on November 26 and November 27 at South Goa to shortlist the candidates from each of the block in the district.
Chodankar said that the blocks in North Goa District will submit names of the probable candidates on November 28 and December 01.
He said that the Pradesh Election Committee will meet on November 30 discuss the already shortlisted names. “The Screening Committee of the party will meet on December 3 and December 4,” Chodankar said.
He said that Screening Committee will meet the candidates in Goa to spare their trip to the national capital.
Chodankar said that the party will shortlist the candidates in all the 40 Assembly constituencies in absence of any decision on the alliance with like-minded parties.
