CM Pramod Sawant receives first of COVID vaccine

Sankhalim: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Wednesday received his first dose of COVID-19 vaccine at Primary Health Centre in Sankhalim in North Goa.

Sawant was explained the entire procedure about the vaccination and its probable side effects by a nurse from Primary Health Centre (PHC) before inoculating him.

The 47-year-old politician was administered the vaccine under Healthworkers category as he is a practicing doctor by profession.

The state has already began vaccinating persons above 60 years of age and those between 45 to 59 with co morbidities since Monday across its all the government facilities.

Talking to reporters after getting vaccinated, the Chief Minister congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi for introducing nationwide vaccination drive as a fight against COVID-19.

Sawant said that the people should not be afraid of taking the vaccine as there are no complaints of side effects of it.

“I took the vaccine so that the trust in the vaccination bolsters further,” he said adding that there are no major complaints from the people who have received the vaccine.

Sawant said that though the vaccination has begun, the people should continue observing the measures like social distancing, wearing of mask and sanitization to avoid the spread of the virus.
