Panaji: The Goa government has intensified its crackdown on the black marketing of commercial and domestic LPG cylinders, conducting 363 raids across the state over the last one-and-a-half months.
Goa’s Department of Civil Supplies conducted 363 raids between March 1 and April 15, 2026, during which 44 cylinders were seized, Sanjiv Gadkar, Secretary (Civil Supplies Department), told GNH.
He said that the extensive raids are being conducted to ensure that there is no black marketing of LPG cylinders taking advantage of the current crisis-like situation.
Gadkar said that the department has formed a Flying Squad, which has been responding to consumer complaints besides conducting searches on its own.
The department, he said, has filed two FIRs, one in Mormugao taluka and another in Tiswadi taluka, in connection with the usage of domestic cylinders for commercial purposes. A third FIR was filed against unknown persons for storing cylinders in Sangolda village near Panaji, Gadkar said.
As per the data provided by the Department of Civil Supplies, the largest number of raids were conducted in Mormugao taluka (South Goa district). Officials conducted 122 raids during the last one-and-a-half months in this taluka.
The data states that a total of 20 raids were conducted in Pernem taluka, 17 in Bicholim, 34 in Bardez, 29 in Tiswadi, and 23 in Sattari talukas in North Goa district.
Eight raids were conducted in Salcette taluka and 27 in Ponda taluka in South Goa district.
In Kushavati district, 30 raids were conducted in Quepem, four in Sanguem, 14 in Canacona, and eight in Dharbandora.
The Flying Squad conducted raids at 27 places, the data mentions.
