BJP leads in North, Congress in South

Panaji: BJP candidate and Union AYUSH minister Shripad Naik was leading in North Goa Parliamentary seat while Congress candidate Francis Sardinia was leading in South during the first round of counting.

 As per the records made available by chief electoral officer, Naik was leading by over 5000 votes as the total votes polled so far is 19,000 while his nearest rival Congress candidate Girish Chodankar got 14,000 votes.

North Goa Parliamentary constituency had recorded 78.89 per cent voting during 2014 elections in which BJP candidate Naik had won. The polling percentage for 2019 Parliamentary election in this constituency was 73.92 percent.

In South Goa, Congress Candidate Francisco Sardinha is leading by nearly 3000 votes against BJP sitting MP Narendra Sawaikar.

Sardinha has so far got 15600 votes while Sawaikar is with 13,200 votes. .

South Goa constituency reported 75.17 per cent polling for 2014 election which went up to 70.15 percent for 2019 polls
