Margao: While State government has almost laid to rest all apprehensions about the formalin in fish issue, there is important information which we have got.

A senior lady FDA officer who was found giving media bytes on the fateful day in Margao wholesale fish market was actually not a part of the raiding team.

The team formed to conduct surprise inspection at Margao wholesale fish market did not have the name of the lady officer, who lives at Colva.

“After the raid, one of the officer just informed her over the phone that such a thing has happened and she rushed to the spot. Without even knowledge of anyone, she gave the media byte claiming that there was formalin in the fish,” a FDA official said.

Similar to the police department, FDA maintains a register of the officer when they move out on checking or raids. The register does not show the name of that senior lady officer.

The questions are now asked why she took out-of-way interest to be a part of the team, where she was not assigned and why she spoke to the media which created the entire confusion.
